New door lock and passcode for the park

Posted by SCOUT AND DUKE on March 29, 2011 at 8:47 PM

Hi guys.  I'm hoping a lot of you see this and are able to give me some input.  We got some input this past weekend at our first clean up day at the park and appreciate all the the communication we had with our members that were there and look forward to any ideas you have.

The board is trying to work with the members to make it not only easier for you guys to get in the park, but to also keep it safe for the dogs and to keep non-members out of the park when they are not supposed to be there.  We have a padlock that we can program for different codes on a quarterly basis that we are going to start using coming up soon, but I wanted to get some advice from the members. This new lock will keep costs down for the creation of keys and to keep members more current.  It's hard for us to collect keys from expired members so it is harder for us to do the things in the park we have been wanting to do money wise. (like fence the second acre of the park, have more socials and events at the park, etc).  We were wondering what would be more beneficial for you guys.  Would you rather get the new combination via email, mail or have a quarterly social where we would hand the combination to you and get updated information at the park or a designated location.  We're thinking it would be easier for us to just email you, but we want to make sure to get input before we put our new lock in effect, or at least decide what we are going to put in effect.  Now, it's up to you to keep the combination to yourself.  Remember, the more people you share the code with, the less effective we will be keeping the park a safe and healthy place to exercise and socialize your furry family members.

Thank you all for reading this and sharing your ideas.  Any ideas are welcome and all of the members of the board would love to see you at the next meeting on April 19th.

:) Carrie

Sounds good. Will the park still be available to use any time of the night or day? Becuase we work a lot during the day, and only get to use the park only at night.

Email should be the easiest and cheapest method for getting the code to everyone. It will be impossible to get everyone to a social every quarter. Besides, there may be times when money is tight for the group as it is for some of us, or some other reason, and we may not be able to have a social every quarter. Also, I don't want to have to come out when it is zero degrees to get a code, when I could have sat in a 70 degree room in comfort and got it at my leisure. Carly and Scott

Why not have a social at least for the first couple of quaraters and then email the combo to those members who don't attend. Socials will give us a chance to ask questions and pay dues as well as have fun. We will help if needed. ~~ Nancy and Beau

Looks like we need all the above. If you need volunteers to work the park, I will! bb

Sounds great having a keypad! I'd like to be emailed or mailed the codes because my husband and I both work weekends often and that's normally when all social events are! Thanks!
